I a tour guide in Italy and have made many New Zealand friends through my tours. One of these had met Burt as a younster and told me that Anthony Hopkins played the part to perfection. I'd expect nothing less from such a brilliant actor. New Zealand is an Amazing country ... did you know that Sam Neil (another great actor) is a New Zealander? If you do go to NZ be sure to visit Sam Neil's Vineyard (called TWO PADDOCKS) on the South Island. He makes a very good Pinot Noir!

This is the simple story of Burt Munro from New Zealand who broke the land speed record at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats in the 70's. The retro look of the movie is pretty cool to see; especially when Munro comes to the US. Sir Anthony Hopkins does a great job as the old man persuing a dream to race his motorceecle. There are some interesting charecters in this movie. The little boy who likes the old man. The tough biker who, in the end, helps out the old man. The cross dresser who befriends the old man. I like the line when in his encouters with "yankees", the old man is asked if he is British to which he replys, "I'm no pome". Look up the meaning. Its a bit of interesting history between England and Australia/New Zeland.
